For over five decades, the Swiss artist has created sculptural experiments inspired by the volcano. “I’d like to go back to Stromboli,” the artist said in a 2007 interview, “Strangely enough, Stromboli is the only volcano I really know… I think it has a classic form. Because it juts out of the sea, like a cone.”
